hello, I want to visit the animal kingdom this week. I was wondering about the Tree of Life shows "after dark" but wondered if it gets dark before the park closes? Can you please advise on this?

    Jambo, Mylinda!

Welcome to planDisney, where Guests help other Guests plan their vacations at Disney Destinations. I'm thrilled to hear you're planning to visit Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park this week! The Walt Disney World Resort is filled with enchanting experiences, and I'd be happy to help you get ready for an exciting escape to The Most Magical Place on Earth.

The Tree of Life is the hallmark centerpiece of Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park, featuring over 300 animals carved into its roots, trunk, and branches! Mylinda, Tree of Life Awakenings typically take place during the fall and winter months (not during daylight savings time) when the theme park is open past sunset. At the time of writing, the theme park closes around 6:00 p.m. most evenings, which is before sundown. Therefore, unfortunately, you won't likely be able to catch the Tree of Life Awakening during your upcoming visit.

Although you won't be able to enjoy the Tree of Life Awakening this week, I encourage you to check out the entertainment schedule in the My Disney Experience mobile app to see what other exciting happenings are taking place during your visit! I do hope you'll be able to experience Winged Encounters - The Kingdom Takes Flight during your day at Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park. My son and I were wandering near the Tree of Life this week when we noticed a colorful flurry of beautiful macaws overhead, and it took our breath away!

Mylinda, I hope you've found this information helpful and I wish you a trip filled with magical adventures! If you happen to have any additional questions before or during your vacation, you're always welcome to revisit us here at planDisney. Now, as one of my tour guides on Kilimanjaro Safaris so eloquently put it earlier this week:

"Be well, be wild, and be inspired,"
