If we want to visit the Animal Kingdom Lodge resort, can we park at the Animal Kingdom theme park and take the bus to the resort? We would not attending the theme park that day.

Hello there, Itzel! Welcome to planDisney, and thank you so much for stopping by with your question. I’m so happy you’re here, and I’d be absolutely delighted to help!

I can already tell you’re planning something extra special for your Walt Disney World Resort visit, and I love that you’re thinking ahead when it comes to parking. It’s one of those details that makes a big difference on the day-of!

According to official Walt Disney World Resort policy, standard self-parking is complimentary for day Guests who are visiting a Disney Resorts Collection hotel to enjoy select dining, shopping, entertainment, or recreation experiences. That means if you have dining reservations, or even if you just want to explore the resort, do a little shopping, or take in the atmosphere, you’re welcome to head straight to the Resort and check in with security at the entrance gate.

You’ll just want to let the Cast Member at the booth know your plans, and they’ll be happy to assist. In my personal experience, I’ve never had any trouble parking at a resort when I’ve had a valid reason to visit. As always, policies are subject to change and space can be limited, especially during peak hours, but I find that being friendly and clear with your purpose usually does the trick!

Now, if you’d rather play it super safe, you can absolutely park at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and then make your way to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge from there. Just keep in mind that parking at the theme park is not complimentary. This might not be the most efficient option, especially if you’re only visiting the Lodge.

Another creative (and completely complimentary!) route is to park at Disney Springs and then take the bus directly to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Parking at Disney Springs is free, and buses run regularly to all Disney Resort hotels. Just note that buses from Disney Springs to the resorts typically begin running mid-morning and continue into the evening, so be sure to check the bus schedule in the My Disney Experience app to plan accordingly.

I hope this gives you some helpful options to consider, Itzel! Whether you're stopping by to dine at Sanaa, wander through the stunning lobby, or just soak up the savanna views, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of my favorite resorts to explore. You’re going to love it!

If you have any more questions as you prepare for your magical visit from Missouri, please don’t hesitate to reach out again. We’re always available and more than happy to help!

    Warm hugs,
