Hi there, Regina!
While both of the Resort classes are well-appointed and really reflect the Disney spirit in a variety of touches, there is certainly a difference between the two.
Of the Value Resorts, my favorite is
All-Star Music. It offers Guests the family suite option, and provides a great deal of fun in its theming.
But in your case, I would recommend
Port Orleans French Quarter.
The pool area, adjacent to the playground, boasts a slide and a small kiddie pool. Every day, Cast Members come out to lead the children in poolside games.
The French Quarter might not have the excitement of the Dig Site (Coronado Springs Resort, where I would send you if you had only the older child) or the water play area (Caribbean Beach Resort), but the smaller size might be beneficial to you.
Finally, the size of the French Quarter means that a sleepy little one can be carried over a relatively short distance if need be, and there are no long bus rides around the Resort to try a tired Mouseketeer's patience.
You might also consider the
Cabins at Fort Wilderness. Again, in the Moderate class, the Cabins can accommodate up to six people, allowing you some space to spread out. Your eight-year-old might appreciate the extra room. And there's loads of green space outside where a nice little outdoor playtime is not out of the question. The pool area, recently renovated, features slides, fountains, and more.
I hope these suggestions help you; please drop me a line and let me know where you decide to stay.
See you later, celebrator,
-Deborah B.
