Hi, Felicia! I'm glad you
ran to planDisney to get the answer to your question! Did I just make a cheesy running joke to introduce this question? Absolutely! Did it work? I'll leave that up to you!
I love the fact that
runDisney offers virtual events for those runners who can't get to the
Walt Disney World Resort or the
Disneyland Resort for a race. It offers a lot of flexibility and allows these Guests to accomplish their goals from the comfort of their favorite running trails, neighborhood, or wherever they feel the most at ease. And you can get a certificate and medal, just as you would if you were running an in-person event. It's just such a cool offering!
So I consulted with my favorite runDisney enthusiast,
Kaitlin P., who you can currently see starring in
some very useful videos about traveling with little ones on the televisions at the
Disney Resorts Collection Hotels. She's always been a star in my eyes, but now everyone else visiting the resorts can see it too! Anyway, after checking with her and doing a little research on the
runDisney website, I found out that there is no specific timeline for when you need to complete a virtual race. These races are on the honor system so you will receive your medal no matter when you finish. However, if you'd like to be able to download your certificate of completion, you must complete the form on your Finisher Dashboard by the conclusion of the event. This timeline is listed on the event page. For example,
this summer's runDisney Virtual Series 2024 has a timeframe of June 1st to August 31st, 2024. If you were running one of these virtual races, you would need to fill out your form by August 31, 2024 to be able to download your certificate. As for your medal, you can expect to receive it in the mail following the event completion timeframe (unless it has been indicated otherwise).
Felicia, I hope you find this information helpful and I wish you all the luck with your virtual race. And be sure to
check out the latest planDisney Podcast all about runDisney! My friends
Melissa H. and
Betsy S. did a great job explaining the ins and outs for beginners and would be happy to answer any other questions you might have about these events.
You can go the distance,
Matt
