If I get in the virtual queue for Trader Sams Grog Grotto, can I request a later time than offered?

Aloha Carlyn! Thank you for visiting planDisney!

Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is the perfect tropical hideaway where your food and drinks can come with some fun surprises!

Carlyn, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is a very popular spot with limited seating so arriving early is key. The tiki bar opens at 3 p.m. and guests begin lining up as early as 90 minutes before. Prior to opening, a Cast Member will take your name and phone number and put you in a virtual queue. After your name is on the list, you are free to leave the area around Trader Sam’s, but I suggest you stay at the Polynesian Village Resort! When the tiki bar opens, they will start texting parties on the list. Once it is your turn, you will receive a text notification that you have approximately 10 minutes to return. If you do not return within that time frame, you will lose your spot in the line.

If you don’t make it into Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, you can still enjoy their food and drink! Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace is on the outdoor patio right outside of Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto and still offers a peaceful tropical island vibe. I also recommend grabbing a DOLE whip from Pineapple Lanai and if you have the time, finding a spot to watch the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach.

I hope this was helpful Carlyn, please come back to planDisney if you have any more questions!
