Are virtual cues different than lightening lanes?

Hello Donica! Your question shows that you are doing some great planning! I’m happy to explain the difference because they are two separate options available to enhance a Guest's experience in the Disney Parks!

Lightning Lanes are new to the Disney Parks! Lightning Lanes are a paid upgrade to your theme park ticket. They allow Guests to skip the traditional wait for a ride or attraction. Lightning Lanes are available in two ways. The first way to use a Lightning Lane is to purchase Disney Genie+. This feature will allow Guests to have Lightning Lane access for over 40 attractions throughout the four Disney Parks! Disney Genie+ is currently available at $15 per ticket/per day. The other way to use Lightning Lane is to purchase individual Lightning Lane access on select rides and attractions in the Disney Parks!

A virtual queue is different from Lightning Lane access. A virtual queue is a Guest’s way of accessing a ride or attraction through a feature on their My Disney Experience app. Virtual queues are in limited use in the Disney Parks. The only attraction currently using a virtual queue is the new Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT. The virtual queue is free through your My Disney Experience app!
