Viisiting WDW in early April (me, DH, DD7) and am contemplating dinner at AKL. Is it possible to go to Mara? Staying at All Star Movie. Not sure we want to be tied into an ADR that day but want to visit the lodge and have a meal.

    Hi Catherine,

Animal Kingdom Lodge is a beautiful resort.

While Mara is just your average counter service restaurant, you can certainly dine there.  If you're just looking for a quick meal so that you can explore the resort grounds, it's definitely an option.

Make sure to purchase some Zebra Domes for dessert.

If you reconsider and decide you want to eat at a full service restaurant.  Boma is one of my favorites.   There is an extensive buffet of both African and traditional American dishes -- something for everyone.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
