When that date finally arrives, things can move quickly, especially when you have your eye on one of the coveted cabanas at Castaway Cay, so having a plan before your booking window opens is a smart move.
When it comes to your
activities booking window, you won’t truly know what is available until the day your window opens. There isn’t currently a way to preview the actual availability for your specific sailing ahead of time. Guests sailing Concierge, followed by eligible
Castaway Club Members based on their membership level, get earlier opportunities to book onboard activities. That means some popular options, including cabanas at Castaway Cay, may already have limited availability by the time your booking window opens, particularly if this is your first Disney sailing.
Cabanas are definitely one of those reservations that can disappear quickly. The good news is that the addition of the Mickey & Minnie Cove Cabanas at
Castaway Cay gives Guests another option, which can improve your chances depending on your sailing and when you travel. I would definitely have a backup plan in mind because you don't want your entire day to hinge on booking a cabana.
While you cannot preview the actual availability, I do recommend heading over to the Disney Cruise Line website and taking a look through the
Port Adventures section before your booking window opens. This will allow you to see the excursions offered at the ports on your itinerary and get a feel for the different options, even though it won't show you what will actually still be available when your window opens. I would make a short list of your first choices, followed by a few backups. That way, you won't be trying to decide between a rainforest adventure and a beach day while the clock is ticking.
If you use social media, there is usually a group created for each sailing, and these can be another useful resource. Other Guests may share what they are seeing once their booking windows open, which can sometimes give you an idea of what may be available or selling out. Just remember that availability can vary by the day, so I would use those reports as a helpful reference rather than a guarantee of what you will see when your own window opens.
And if you don't get the excursion or cabana you wanted, don't assume your chance has completely sailed. Once onboard, stop by the
Port Adventures Desk and ask whether there is a waitlist or whether they can recommend a similar experience. Guests do sometimes change their plans, so availability can open up after the initial booking rush.
