Can veterans make use of the military discount or it that reserved for only active or retired members of the military?

    Ahoy Christine,

Thank you for bringing your important question to planDisney as you look for special savings on a Disney Cruise Line vacation. Most importantly, thank you or your family member for their service to our great nation. My husband is also a Veteran (but not retired) so we’re always looking into the details of these military offers to see about eligibility. Disney Cruise Line does offer a wider eligibility for their military rates than the Walt Disney World Resort, so I’m happy to share the information with you.

Unfortunately, Veterans are not currently eligible for the military rates with Disney Cruise Line, unless they are 100% Permanently Disabled with a military identification indicating DAVPRM status. (Please note that Guests with a DD214 Form are not eligible.) Our United States Veteran population is quite large so unfortunately, they are always not included in these exclusive offers.

Disney Cruise Line does extend their military offers to those serving in related branches of the United States Government and other affiliations, if your family happens to quality.

U.S. Military active duty members, retired members, or 100% Permanently Disabled Veterans (or their spouses) and the following branches of the government that support the U.S. Military ARE eligible for Military Rates:

    • U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard
    • National Guard and Reservists
    • Public Health Service
    • National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
    • National Security Agency
    • Secret Service
    • 100% Permanently Disabled Veterans with military ID - DAVPRM status printed on the front of the ID (Guests traveling with a DD214 Form are not eligible)

Please note the following ARE NOT eligible for these savings:

    • U.S. Department of Homeland Security
    • International military branches
    • Veterans (except DAVPRM status)
    • Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)
    • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
    • U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
    • Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
    • NASA Johnson or Kennedy Space Center
    • "Active deceased" or "retired deceased" members of the U.S. Department of Defense
    • U.S. Government contractors

If your family is not eligible for the Disney Cruise Line Military Rates based on this list, please keep an eye on the Special Offers page for additional savings on specific itineraries. I typically like to book our cruise vacations as soon as new itineraries are released (check the Disney Parks Blog for announcements, about 18 months in advance) to spread out our cruise expenses. Disney Cruise Line has a great “Pay at Your Own Pace” structure where you can pay on your own time after the initial deposit and before the Paid in Full Date. Check out this current special offer for a reduced deposit too, if that would help you dive into planning a special vacation.

I hope this helps you determine if your family is eligible for a military offer, Christine. Please sail by planDisney anytime with additional questions to help you make the most of your Disney vacation planning.

May you chart a course for a magical adventure,
    Amy
