Hi James!
Welcome, and thank you for bringing this excellent Disneyland Resort planning question to us hEAR at the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
Mine is a Military Family too, and please let me take a quick moment to first thank YOU for your service!
Special savings for U.S. Service Members at
Disney's Theme Parks and
Disneyland's Resort Hotels are available to those who are currently Active Duty, active Reservists, full Retirees and those who are 100% service-connected disabled Veterans.
But! Just like Walt said of his famous theme park that it "would never be finished growing and changing, as imagination and ideas never stop growing", so too do most things with the U.S. Military. As of January 1 of this year, the "Disabled Veterans Equal Access Act of 2018" now allows Commissary as well as Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) benefits to *qualifying non-retired Veterans. This new act won't affect who can take advantage of promotions offered directly from Disney, but it does allow those who now qualify the ability to visit Base/Post MWR Ticket Offices that
do also sell a second, slightly discounted Disneyland Resort theme park ticket different from the Multi-day Military Promotional Theme Park Ticket. To find a price list of these tickets, either visit or call your nearest base/post's MWR/ITT/Ticket & Travel Office, or you can google 'Camp Pendleton MWR Tickets', select the first link and then click the blue 'download ticket list' button on the right side of the page. These tickets range from 1-day to 5, and also include the option to add the popular Park Hopper addition.
*Newly MWR qualifying Veterans are defined as below, as determined by the Department of Veteran Affairs. If you do now qualify, you
must also get an updated Veterans Health Identification Card (VHIC) that displays 'MWR, Commissary' under the picture to be able to purchase your tickets in person on base:
~ Veterans with Service-connected disabilities rated 0 - 90 percent
~ Purple Heart Recipients
~ Former Prisoners of War (POW)
~ Caregivers of Veterans (Primary Family Caregivers of eligible veterans approved and designated under the VA Program of Comprehensive Assistance with a Current official VA letter and official ID.)
Should you still not qualify for either Military offer, but know someone who does, I have more good news. While these slightly discounted Disneyland Resort theme park tickets must be purchased by someone with access to MWR benefits, they can be given to anyone to use without the purchaser present. I've purchased these 1-day tickets about a dozen times to give to friends, my parents, even my dear friend and
fellow Moms Panelist Kristin C. and they've never had an issue getting in without me.
And last but not least, Mickey does have a whole page of
Special Offers & Discounts for all of his pals that he often updates. And definitely make sure that your address and contact information are up to date in your
My Disneyland profile as from time to time there are special offers based on where you live!
I hope that this was helpful, James, but moreso I hope that we get to See You Real Soon at Disneyland Resort!
~Kristen
