I am a veteran, not a retiree, with no service connected disability. I do have my DD214 and am currently working for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Am I or my family (spouse, children, grandchildren) eligible for a discount at any Walt Disney resort?

Hi, Adrian!  Thank you so very much for your service to our country, and as the spouse of a service connected, 100% disabled vet, thank you for your continued dedication to our veterans.

In order to qualify for the Armed Forces salute tickets or Walt Disney World resort discounts, you do have to be a retired veteran, active duty service member, the spouse of a service member, or be 100% service connected disabled or have DAVPRM status.  Having served the country without falling into one of those categories makes you ineligible for the discounts.

However, Shades of Green has run specials (like this past September and this coming January), where they offer their significantly discounted rooms to anyone who has served in the military.  You just have to have your DD214 after being honorably discharged from service, regardless of length of service or disability status.  If you can travel during a special offer like this, your room rate will be the most reasonable on Walt Disney World property.

Also, if you are a member of the American Federation of Government Employees, they sometimes have discounted theme park tickets.  You can call their benefits line to see what discounts may be available for your travel period.

Once again, thank you for your service!
