Hello, Chance!
Welcome to planDisney, and thank you for your service. I’ll be more than happy to help answer your question so that you can get back to planning for your visit. As a military spouse myself, I’m more than happy to share the available discounts that you have as a DoD Civilian.
I have found that there are special savings available to you through
Shades of Green. I recommend checking out the discounted tickets available to purchase online. Keep scrolling past the Military Promotional Ticket to see the ones I am referring to on the Shades of Green website. They are titled “Walt Disney World Theme Park Tickets (1 to 10-day tickets). Before submitting a request to purchase these tickets, I recommend
double-checking your eligibility on the Shades of Green website. Once everything looks good on your end, you will be able to purchase your tickets and have them sent to you in the mail. The best news is that they will already be activated so that you can head straight into the theme parks on the day of your first visit.
I also recommend taking a look at the
current special offers available on the official Walt Disney World website. Even with being an active duty family, there have been a few times when we have gone with the special offer rather than the military offer, as it was a better deal. It really just depends on what you want to do and see while visiting.
My family likes to spend most of our time in the parks, so we usually go with staying at a
Value Resort to save money and splurge in the parks on things like meals and snacks. Although our next visit is going to be a little slower with a full resort day at Fort Wilderness Lodge and my husband cannot stop talking about all the relaxing things he has in mind. I am constantly reminding him that on the evening of that resort day, we have tickets to
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, so we will see how that goes with his plans. It is still a change of pace for us, so I’m sure it will still feel relaxing.
Chance, I hope this helps answer your question. Thank you for stopping by, and thank you for your service.
Happy planning,
Shantel
