Hey-Howdy-Hey, Amy! Welcome to planDisney, the rootinest, tootinest planning resource in the Wild, Wild West. I'm happy to help with your question today.
The countdown is on to the National High School Cheerleading Championship! Athletes from across the nation are putting the final touches on their routines and preparing to bring their most phenomenal stunts to the
ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex--how thrilling! I just returned from cheering my daughter's team on at the high school dance team championships this past weekend, and it was a truly unforgettable experience. I hope you're getting excited and packing all of your most fabulous fan gear!
Athletes competing in the event and staying on property at
Walt Disney World Resort will have a physical theme park ticket issued by their coaches at the time of check-in. It sounds like your cheerleaders created their own
My Disney Experience accounts, and those are not playing nicely with parent accounts.
We encountered a similar situation at the dance competition--my daughter wound up with a separate My Disney Experience profile (she already had an existing profile managed by me) where her athlete park ticket "lived", but we were able to connect them--I'll walk you through the steps below. We spent the day after the competition at
EPCOT and I was successfully able to add her to our Virtual Queue group that morning to snag a coveted boarding group for
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind with no issues.
OK, let's try and get you linked up for maximum planning efficiency! Before your departure, have your child open the
My Disney Experience app and follow these steps:
- From the home screen, select the three lines (the "hamburger" menu) at lower right.
- Scroll down and select "My Profile".
- At the bottom of the next screen, there should be an option to "Show My Linking Code". Once they open this QR code, you can scan it and it will add them to your Family & Friends List so that you can share plans.
This should do the trick so that you can connect athletes and parents, and hopefully have some fun family time in the theme parks--ideally with a gigantic trophy in tow!
Wishing you safe travels and a wonderful competition weekend, Amy! Please don't hesitate to reach out again to planDisney if we can assist with any other questions to make your trip magical.
Go Team!
