Do you have to be vaccinated to go on a Disney cruise

    Hi Tasha!

Welcome to planDisney! Isn’t it thrilling that Disney Cruise Line is going to be sailing again? Glad to hEAR that you too may have plans to set sail with Captain Minnie. I “might” be one of those people who has had a bag packed for months awaiting this very moment. As much as I cannot wait to cruise, I am really excited for the crew members who are more than ready to share the magic with Guests!

To answer your question, I first have to say it depends where you are sailing from. Different rules apply to the Disney Magic at Sea voyages on the Disney Magic from the UK versus the upcoming sailings on the Disney Dream from Port Canaveral. So start here and navigate through to get the answers you need.  Presumably, you are talking about sailing from the United States since those Disney Magic at Sea voyages are exclusively for UK residents, and it looks like you are a U.S. resident.

My next statements pertain to the Disney Dream itineraries beginning August 9, 2021 and beyond. For those voyages, Guests do not have to be vaccinated to sail with Captain Mickey from Florida. However, Disney Cruise Line strongly encourages all eligible Guests to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before sailing. Here’s the added benefit to being fully vaccinated: Guests who ARE may choose to provide their proof of vaccination in order to be exempt from pre-arrival and Embarkation Day COVID-19 testing (unless arriving from outside the United States). FYI: "fully vaccinated" means 14 days have passed after the final dose has been administered.

If Guests are not vaccinated or are arriving from outside the U.S., then they must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test (paid for at the Guest’s expense) taken between 5 days and 24 hours prior to the sail date. Additionally, on Embarkation Day, Guests are required to undergo a rapid PCR COVID-19 test at the terminal prior to boarding. The $65 test fee will be charged to the folio of all Guests 12 years and older.

I know a lot of this information is very technical, so all the details outlining the protocols for the Disney Dream can be located in this “Know Before You Go” link and will be updated periodically with additional information. Be mindful that details about procedures for the other Disney ships like the Disney Fantasy and the Disney Wonder have not yet been released. So stay tuned for more information as those itineraries get closer on the horizon.

Tasha, I hope this information proves helpful to you and that you will have an exceptional Disney cruise!

    SEA ya real soon!
