I am vacationing in July, 3 adults and 2 children. I am military and can stay at Shades of Green, but wanted your opinion about staying at the Beach Club Resort instead. Also, is the dining plan worth the expense. The kids are 7 and 4,

    Hi Quintella,

Thanks for stopping by the Moms Panel and asking your question. We're a military family too, and love Shades of Green, but we have been big fans of staying on property during most of our vacations. Beach Club Resort is one of the most beautiful yet laid back resorts within the Epcot Resort area. Families enjoy staying there since the amenities are top-notch but it's not too "grown up" in nature. The rooms are pretty similar to the rooms at Shades of Green, if not a bit smaller. If you do decide to stay at the Beach Club Resort, you'll have to visit Beaches & Cream Soda Shop for a burger. They make the best ones around! If your family is feeling really adventurous, try your luck at the Kitchen Sink. The kids will be in awe and hopefully, with 5 people in your party, you'll be able to finish it all without a stomach ache.

When it comes to the Disney Dining Plans, the worth of it really depends on your party. If you are a family that loves sit down meals, and would like to not only explore the parks, but the culinary awesomeness that Disney restaurants offer, then I say go for it. We are a frugal family, but we always add the Disney Dining Plan to our vacation package. For the amount we add to our package, we get way more back in culinary experience. Our kids love trying out new restaurants and this is a great way to do it without any worry of it they will like what is offered(and us wasting money on items they may not like).

I hope this answered your questions, Quintella. If you have any more questions before your vacation, please feel free to ask us at any time. We're always here to help.
