I have a vacation planned with my 4 year old and my 2 year old in September. Should I stop in mid-day and have them take a nap?

    Gwen:

The answer is yes! yes! yes!

First, September is still quite warm under the Florida sun, which adds to a child's crankiness, in my opinion.  But the biggest reason to go back to the room for an afternoon siesta is so everyone can refuel to enjoy all that Disney has to offer at night.  Disney transforms itself after dark, and I know you'd want your children to enjoy the lights and sights.  As for myself, I have found that an afternoon respite helps me be more patient, too, with the kids.

Every time we've "pushed it" or told ourselves "oh, the kids are doing fine," inevitably by early evening I have a group of grumpy elves rather than happy ones....Take the time to head back to your room.  If you disagree after your visit, come back and let me know!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
