Hello I have a vacation planned for the end of January, my question is if we came down with Covid could we reschedule the vacation without loosing the money? Or what is the protocol?

Hey howdy hey Katelyn and welcome to planDisney! January is a great time to visit Walt Disney World Resort and a great way to start off the year. Being able to visit the resort without the heat of the summer months is a great way to experience all the resort has to offer as well as some special extras. One of the big draws would be EPCOT International Festival of the Arts running from January 14 - February 21, 2022. Complete immersion in the arts from the performing arts, visual arts and of course the culinary arts, will truly bring out the creative side in everyone in the party.

Considering the current situation involving Covid-19, this plays a huge part in many decisions behind visiting Walt Disney World Resort. If for some reason you do have to change the dates of your trip, the time frame dictates what fees will be incurred at the time based on the terms and conditions. If you change your trip, you can do so if your trip is more than 30 days with only the potential upgraded costs. So, you would only be responsible for the difference in the vacation if you book at a more expensive time. If you make any changes less than 30 days, there is a change fee of $50.00 that will be applied to your vacation to make the change, as well as any third-party charges that may be applied, but the cast member you speak to will navigate you through any specifics. If you need to cancel your trip, similar time frames are applicable. If the cancellation is made more than 30 days, everything should be refunded other than any third-party fees. For cancellations made between two and 29 days prior to your arrival, a cancellation fee of $200.00 will be applied as well as any third-party fees. For cancellations 1 day or less, the full price of the package is non-refundable. You can check all of the specifics which should be included on the confirmation email you received when you booked your trip or on the terms and conditions link.

One other thing to keep in mind is travel insurance. Walt Disney World Resort has their own travel insurance recommendations but there are also so many others to choose from if you so desire. The big thing to keep in mind are the terms and conditions. Some insurance companies have special guidelines for Covid-19 they may pay in full, partial or not at all if anyone in your party needs to change or cancel a trip due to Covid-19. So, if you did buy travel insurance, this may help mitigate some if not all of this cost depending on the details of the policy you choose.

If you do need to cancel or reschedule your trip more than 30 days, you should be able to do all of this from your My Disney Experience account. Anything less than that you will have to call guest services for assistance. Make sure if you do this through the app, you also remember to change your park reservations as well as any dining reservations as the dining reservations you will be charged if you do not show up for.

I hope this information helps and more so, I hope you and everyone in your party stays healthy and is able to make the trip to the most Magical place on Earth. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask away as we love talking about all things Walt Disney World Resort here at planDisney.

    Happy planing,
