Welcome to planDisney, Cori.
I'm incredibly sorry to hear that your father-in-law is in hospital. I sincerely hope and pray he'll make a full recovery. I can totally understand your hesitancy to leave for vacation.
The Most Magical Place on Earth is less magical when you're worried about loved ones back home.
Cori, although any policy is subject to change, the Walt Disney World cancelation policy currently states that if you cancel a Disney Resort Hotel Package 30 days or more prior to your arrival, you should expect to receive a full refund. However, if you cancel 29 days to 2 days before your arrival date you will receive a full refund, minus a $200 penalty per room. This includes any theme park tickets you've purchased with your room and ticket package. If you wait to cancel until 1 day or less before your visit then the full package is not refundable. Depending on the exact package you booked (for example, if you booked a third-party hotel), there might be some other cancelation fees that are applicable.
Here's what I'd recommend you do: call the
Disney Resort Hotel Reservation team, where you'll be able to speak to a friendly Cast Member. You can explain your situation to them and they'll do their utmost to serve you.
I hope that's helpful, Cori. Thanks so much for reaching out with your question. Please stop by
planDisney again and let me know if you have any other questions. You've got a friend in me.
Mike
