Hi, Maranda! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney!
I'm so excited to hEAR that your
Walt Disney World Resort vacation is right around the corner! Visiting during the phased reopening process may look a bit different from what we're used to, but I have no doubt that your vacation will still be magical. I'm sure you will make memories with your
little Mouseketeer that you'll treasure for yEARs to come!
Based on guidance from health authorities, Walt Disney World Resort is currently requiring all Guests ages 2 and up to wear face coverings. Face coverings should fully cover the nose and mouth and fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face and under the chin. Face coverings need to be secured with ties or ear loops and allow the Guest to remain hands-free. Please note that neck gaiters, open-chin bandanas, and face coverings with valves or holes of any kind are not considered acceptable. Guests must wear face coverings at all times, except when dining or swimming. You may remove your face covering while actively eating or drinking, but you should be stationary and maintain proper physical distancing.
Maranda, I can certainly understand your concern about your little one wearing his face covering. My son is on the autism spectrum. I worried about how he would do with wearing a face mask in public, but he has adapted to this new normal quite well. I would recommend explaining to your son in an age-appropriate way why we must wear face coverings. I also think that practicing wearing a face covering before your trip is a good idea. Purchasing face masks with fun Disney designs would also be a good way to help your little guy feel comfortable. My kids and I love the cute and comfy
face masks from shopDisney! I have found that the shopDisney masks run a bit on the small side, so the size small might work for your son. I have also had luck finding cute masks for kids on Etsy.
As you prepare for your upcoming trip, I recommend looking over the
"Know Before You Go" information on the Walt Disney World website. If you have any additional questions, please visit us again. Wishing you a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
