Our vacation will overlap the start of Epcot's Food and Wine Festival by a day. Is it appropriate for DD (10 and 15)? Since it is only a day, what do you suggest we do? Thanks for you planning advice.

Hi Deborah! It sounds like you have a great Walt Disney World vacation planned for the fall this year. The Epcot Food and Wine Festival kicks off especially early this year on August 31 and runs until November 13. It has become one of the more popular special events at Disney.

Although Epcot remains on my families list of places to visit each fall we are careful about what we see and do in the World Showcase and especially when. I definitely would not take your daughters on a weekend as the crowds will be rowdy from beginning at 11am to close. I don't love that it has gotten this way but I have to be honest with families that it isn't the best place for children.  During the weekdays I can suggest you go right at opening at 11am to visit some of the great artisans and also to experience some of the culinary treats in the booths with your family. Spend a couple of hours in the World Showcase and then head back to Future World for some attraction time.

They bring in some old groups from the past to entertain on the American Adventure stage throughout the festival and that often entices people to come in the evenings. If there is a group you just can't miss then head there for that and exit right after.

Hope this helps with your final two days of planning!
