Hey there, Marie! Welcome to planDisney and Welcome Home! I'm so glad that you've stopped by with your holiday planning question. I just love chatting with a fellow
Disney Vacation Club Member!
Before you know it, you'll be arriving at
Disney's Old West Resort, ready to begin your magical adventure at The Most Magical Place on Earth. How exciting! Can you believe that I haven't stayed at Old Key West yet?! This tranquil, beachy Resort is at the top of my Disney bucket list for its laid-back, tropical vibe, huge rooms and the
Gurgling Suitcase! That little spot always looks like the BEST time! I can't wait for you to have the BEST time on your holiday, so, let's chat about getting you to the magic!
While there is no transportation exclusively for DVC Members, Hakuna Matata! It means "no worries!" There are quite a few options for transportation from Orlando International Airport to Disney's Old Key West Resort:
- A shuttle bus service, such as Mears Connect or The Sunshine Flyer. These services typically charge per person and have a few Resort-stops to make along the way, but I find it thrilling to arrive at Walt Disney World Resort with fellow excited Guests. Mears Connect is the same company that serviced the retired Disney's Magical Express, so, if you have taken that service in the past, the whole process will feel familiar. You can find online booking forms for both Mears Connect and Sunshine Flyer on their websites!
- A rideshare service, such as Uber or Lyft. One of these app-based services will bring you straight to Old Key West ... No stops! You can head straight to Gurgling Suitcase to get your holiday started! Just make sure that you have both the Uber and Lyft apps downloaded to your mobile device and linked to a payment method before you leave home.
- A private car service. There are many options in the area, but I do know that Mears also provides this service. This option may be a little more expensive than the others, but your personal driver will bring you and your traveling party right to your Resort!
- Rental car. There are several rental car options located right at Orlando International Airport. If you plan on exploring areas outside of Walt Disney World Resort, this option is the way to go, especially since you will receive complimentary overnight self-parking at your Resort as a DVC Member staying at a DVC Resort. Just be aware that the last time I flew into Orlando International Airport, the lines for rental cars were pretty long, so, if you plan on relying on Disney transportation throughout your holiday, this may not be your best option. Safe travels!
Speaking of transportation, Marie, once you arrive at your Resort and have begun your magical holiday, I must recommend
renting bikes to leisurely explore your Resort and the surrounding area! Rent bikes from Hank's Rent 'N Return right at Old Key West! While DVC perks and discounts are always subject to change, right now, Members can save 15 percent on bike rentals! Membership magic unlocked!
Marie, I hope this was helpful, and I'm wishing you the most magical and memorable holiday! Happy planning! Please stop by any time with any holiday planning or DVC questions you may have along the way. You've got a friend in me!
I hope to see ya real soon,
Mandy
