Hey Howdy Hey Katie and welcome to planDisney!
I bet you are super excited about your Magical vacation just a few weeks away!
Disney's Art of Animation Resort is amazing for so many reasons. Each themed area has its reason to take some time and explore.
The Big Blue Pool is the largest resort pool on the property and one you are going to want to spend some time in. Don't even get me started on your food options! I would agree that you may want to spend some time just enjoying the resort during your vacation. I will happily give you more information on how to make this possibility a reality. Let's get to it!
You should have noticed that when booking a vacation package online for the Walt Disney World Resort, the minimum number of days to select your theme park tickets is 2. If you want to change this to a 1-day ticket, you have a couple of options to get this done. The first would be to
call Disney. You can speak to a Cast Member about your plans and they will be happy to make the changes for you. You are also more than welcome to do this online but may come with several extra steps.
Since vacation packages have a 2-day minimum for theme park tickets, you will have to modify your current reservation. This may require you to cancel your current vacation package and rebook a room-only reservation with 1-day theme park tickets. Not to worry as cancelations made 30 days or more from your date of arrival will get a full refund per the current
terms and conditions. Before you do anything to your current reservation, you should try to go online and search for accommodations at Art of Animation to see if availability still exists for your dates of travel. You can go ahead and select your hotel accommodations but on the next screen, you will select "No Tickets" for your package. You should then be taken to your cart after another step or two and there you should see your resort selection. Scroll to the bottom where you see "Continue Shopping For:" and select "Theme Park Tickets". In that screen, you should be able to select 1-day tickets and any options to add to them. This will then be added to your cart so you have 1 transaction for them. I would make sure you book your second update before you cancel your first. This will ensure you have a reservation for the resort with the accommodations you want before canceling anything.
When you do go to check out with your new reservation, you may be required to pay for the full amount of your tickets as well as a 1-night deposit for your room. This may be viewed as a room-only reservation where a 1-night deposit is required to hold the reservation and the full amount would be due at check-in.
You are more than able to change your reservation online, it just will take a couple of extra steps. Make sure to keep an eye on the dates as well. It looks like your 30 days from your date of arrival on April 16th falls on Sunday, March 17th. Make sure to finalize your plans before your final payment is due on your current reservation.
I hope this helped give you an idea of your options and how to carry them out. If you have any further questions let us know, we are always happy to help!
Have a Magical day,
Nick
