Hi Gene,
Thank you for stopping by planDisney with your great question about scooters at Walt Disney World. As a Physical Therapist, I have long admired how accessible Walt Disney World is for those who have mobility differences. It really is the most Magical Place on Earth!
First, you will be happy to know that the
Walt Disney World Bus Service can usually accommodate two Electronic Conveyance Vehicles (ECV's) at a time. In most locations you will see a special boarding area designated for handicapped loading and unloading. You and your party should wait in this location and the driver will assist you with loading your conveyance. Typically loading and unloading will occur using the rear doors of the bus.
Gene, did you know that Walt Disney World offers many
Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities? Within the previous link you will also see which attractions in which you may remain in your ECV and which ones you will need to transfer to a wheelchair or a Ride Vehicle. In addition, if you choose to leave your ECV at home, you have the ability to
rent an ECV either inside a theme park or from a Disney Featured Provider. The biggest difference between those options is that renting inside a theme park is on a first-come, first-served basis and the ECV must stay in the destination in which it was rented. However, if you rent from a Disney Featured Provider, it will be delivered to your Disney Resort hotel, and you may use it throughout your entire stay wherever you go.
There are many areas within the theme parks in which to charge your ECV. Most restaurants have outlets near their entrances as well as inside. If you are dining at a restaurant, be sure to let the host know when you check in that you would like to charge your ECV while you are dining, and they will do their best to assist you. There are also many "relaxation stations" throughout the theme parks which will have outlets for charging. Your best bet is to inquire with a Cast Member after you have entered a theme park and they will be able to guide you to these stations.
Thank you for stopping by with your question and please let us know if we can assist you further with planning your Magical adventures. We are always delighted to help!
See Ya Real Soon,
Brenda
