Greetings, Anna!
I'm so glad you came to us with this question. I know there has been a lot of discussion about
Rider Switch and how it works when you want to use it with
FastPass+, since the service has recently gone fully digital and has been integrated with your MagicBand and
My Disney Experience. The aim of Rider Switch has always been to save some time for families who have little ones who aren't quite tall enough to ride some of the more thrilling attractions. The service allows one riding group to wait in line and ride an attraction while someone stays behind with the little ones, and the second riding group can receive a return time for when they are able to enter the attraction using the FastPass+ queue, eliminating the need to wait in the standby line twice. Since the service has gone digital, Cast Members can now check to see if everyone in the party has a valid FastPass+ when you activate Rider Switch, so if the first group also wants to use the FastPass+ queue, everyone must have a valid FastPass+, including the group using the Rider Switch entitlement.
If you and your daughter need something to do while you're waiting for someone to ride an attraction, it's a great time to take in a show, like
It's Tough to be a Bug! or earn some
Wilderness Explorers badges if you're spending the day at Disney's Animal Kingdom. That way you can save your FastPass+ selections for attractions you can all enjoy together as a family!
Have a magical day, Anna!
