Hey there, Raymond, and welcome to planDisney! It looks like you have a trip to the Disneyland Resort coming up here soon, and this is a fantastic question as you prepare for your visit that I'm happy to help with!
For a quick overview, the Disneyland Resort offers two ways to spend less time in line. First is with
Individual Lightning Lanes, which is the option you'll want to use for
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in
Disneyland Park and
Radiator Springs Racers in
Disney California Adventure Park.
These are two absolute must-do rides for me and our oldest kiddo, so we purchase these Individual Lightning Lanes each visit, and you are correct that you can purchase both from your starting park once your ticket has been scanned in and the other park has opened for the day.
Since these are some of the most popular attractions at each park, they utilize the Individual Lightning Lanes (as opposed to the Genie+ Service that I'll detail below), so you'll purchase these separately and select your arrival window all through the
Disneyland Mobile App. As an added quick note - you do not need to purchase Genie+ service to be able to purchase Individual Lightning Lane entrances.
The second way to spend less time in line at the parks is with
Disney Genie+ service, which provides a number of cool amenities including the ability to access Lightning Lane entrances at select attractions. With this feature, you can select an arrival window on these select attractions, one at a time, all day long to enjoy shorter lines for
some of the best attractions!
My family typically visits the Disneyland Resort 1-2 times per year, so we always purchase Genie+ service - mostly for the Lightning Lane entrance access and
unlimited Disney PhotoPass Digital downloads! As I said above, we also often purchase the Individual Lightning Lanes as well to make sure we can ride both of those attractions on our trip.
I hope this summary was helpful and that you have an absolutely magical visit. Please feel free to
write back directly to me with any follow-up questions you might have.
Have a Magical Day,
Greg
