Welcome back, Karee!
It's so great seeing your name pop back up in our magic mirror. Thank you for sending another fantastic
Disneyland Resort vacation planning question our way!
This is a great question, one that just recently changed a bit. At the current time, to be able to access
Disney California Adventure Park from either the dedicated entrance inside
Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa or the recently reopened "back gate" entrance near
Goofy's Sky School, yes, you do need to have a valid room key showing that you are a current Guest of one of the three
Disneyland Resort Hotels.
However, I'm very happy to share that everyone, no matter where they're staying, is welcome to enter the western-most
Downtown Disney District entrance. There is a security checkpoint stationed at this entrance, but after that, it's about a 15-minute walk to The Esplanade, which is the space directly between the
Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park turnstiles. This entrance is located just steps away from the famous
Disneyland Hotel, and right before the new-ish Star Wars Trading Post store;
hEARs a map for reference.
Pro Tip: While the walk clocks in at .7 of a mile, you might want to add more sauntering time if you have a Mouseketeer or two who likes to stop and look at all of the shops.
I hope that this helped to better plan your upcoming Disney days, Karee! Be sure to check out our most recent tips and tricks on the
