I will be using an electric scooter during my visit and I am trying to decide to rent one at the parks or from an outside company. I am also concerned about being able to charge the scooter if the battery gets low. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Amy! It is always a decision about where to rent scooters, wheelchairs, and strollers for the guests coming to Walt Disney World. There are several things to consider before making your final decision.

Disney is aware that some of the electric scooters might need the occasional charge and will help you find a plug in a location that doesn't interfere with other guests. This does take time away from your park enjoyment if this does happen. When you rent from the parks the scooters will be fully charged and you would likely not have to worry about a charge during that day. If you felt it was getting low you could simply return it to the rental area and pick up a new scooter. Obviously this can't happen if you have rented from an outside source.

I think one of the biggest considerations is if you feel you would need a scooter at your resort. If you can walk short distances so you could enjoy your resort facilities it might be best to rent at the parks. Although the Disney transportation is well equipped to take the scooters whether it is a bus, boat, or monorail, it does take extra time and effort loading and unloading and it might be something you wish not to have to deal with. On the smaller boats at the Magic Kingdom resort area the scooters are not allowed as they are not made for them. Only the larger boats can transport these and since you did not mention where you were staying please check if you would need to take any of these small boats during your stay.

Your final decision is again basically whether you will need one at your resort or just in the parks. If you find you need one the entire time there are many Disney recommended companies you can arrange a rental through and they will deliver and pick up from your resort. Hope this helps!
