Hi Beatrice,
Welcome to planDisney! It's wonderful to see you planning a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
As you plan, review the
Services for Guests with Disabilities. The Guides for Guests with Disabilities include details that might be super helpful as you make plans to navigate the parks. Since you will have an Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV), I also suggest that you review the
Guide for Guests with Mobility Disabilities. The guide includes a list of attractions that you can access with your ECV.
Typically, for Guests in an ECV, you can access the regular attraction queue so you would not need any special or early accommodations. Feel free to check with a Cast Member in Guest Relations and they can provide specific guidance during the dates of your visit. Having traveled with friends and family using ECV's, I can say that the Cast Members have been great with making sure we knew what to do. They will tell you when and where you need to leave your ECV if you cannot board an attraction with it. Some attractions will require you to be able to stand and walk onto the ride. Those are noted on the Guide for Guests with Mobility Disabilities. On Kilimanjaro Safari's for example, when my husband was using an ECV on a prior trip, we were directed to a separate boarding area for folks in ECV's or wheelchairs. We were still able to ride together and his ECV remained safe and secure in the boarding area.
As you continue to plan, think about how you will also navigate dining locations and other experiences. In looking at the Guides for Guests with Mobility Disabilities, if you take a look at the
Magic Kingdom Guide, for example, you will see notes about mobility access for dining locations. You also may need to think carefully about transportation options to the parks. We appreciate that
Resort Transportation options include accommodations for Guests with Disabilities.
Beatrice, if you have not identified an ECV provider for your
ECV Rental, feel free to check availability and pricing within the theme parks or with our Disney Featured provider. If you won't need an ECV at the resort hotel, then you could rent one in the parks. Just know that those are distributed on a first come, first serve basis. If you will need that ECV at the resorts as well, I suggest that you rent one from our Disney Featured Provider.
Happy Planning!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
