Using my dining plan if I make a reservation for four but only three of us eat (hello picky eater), do we get charged for four meals or only the three who actually ate?

Hiya, Michelle! Welcome to planDisney. I am always happy to talk about dining at Walt Disney World Resort and know what it's like to travel with picky eaters.

With the Disney Dining Plan, you get one quick-service meal, one table-service meal and one snack or nonalcoholic beverage per night of your stay. Plus, you also get the bonus of a resort-refillable mug, which is great for quick-serve meals at your resort and a refreshing drink after a day in the theme parks.

When thinking about how meals are charged, the dining plan works a lot like if you were paying with cash or a credit card. If you eat at a restaurant that is à la carte, you will be charged based on what you order. If you dine at a restaurant that is all-you-care-to-enjoy, family style or prix fixe, you will be charged for each person at your table, regardless of how much —or even if—they eat.

This means that if you use the dining plan for some German fare and a polka band at the Biergarten Restaurant, you will be charged one table-service credit for each person in your group.

If you venture to Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen for Nile Nellie's Noodle Bowl but find nothing your picky eater will eat, you will be charged a table-service credit for each meal ordered. I would also recommend asking your server if they have located the (Not So) Secret Menu. Take a look at the Pao de Queijo (Brazilian cheese bread) appetizer. I don't know many picky eaters who would not crack a smile over these delicious delights. You could use your table-service credits for your meals and another form of payment for the appetizer.

Since you will be there during the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, be sure to save some of your snack credits for the Global Marketplaces. Not only because there are so many tasty offerings, but many items are included as a snack in the dining plan. This is an excellent use of these credits.

Michelle, I hope this information helps you plan your trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth! If you have any other questions, please come see us again at planDisney!

    Cheers!
