Hiya Michele,
Welcome to planDisney! I hope you are having a fantastic day! Today is definitely one of my favorites because I get to help you with your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation. You are visiting during one of my favorite times of the year; not only does my birthday fall in February, but it is also time for
EPCOT International Festival of the Arts.
Once you land at Sanford International Airport, you are only about 45 minutes to an hour ( depending on traffic) from the Most Magical Place on Earth. I’ve done that drive a few times, and it goes by quickly, especially when you are excited about your vacation. Like at Orlando International Airport, several options are available for you and your family to get to and from the airport to
Port Orleans- Riverside. Which one you choose depends on your preference, but I’ll share some info on a few of my favorite ones. I will also mention that I like to minimize my time waiting for transportation from the airport, so my two favorite options factor this in and don’t require much time waiting around the airport.
As a mom of tiny Mouseketeers, I like to use rental cars. It is nice to be able to get around for grocery store runs. With a one-way car rental, you can pick up your rental car from Enterprise, Alamo, or National and drop it off at
The Car Care Center near Magic Kingdom. Then, you and your family can hop on their complimentary shuttle from the rental facility to your resort hotel. Another option if you don’t want to do any driving yourself (but you have children in your group) is to hire an SUV car service through Mears Luxe. This is a great way to ensure that your ride comes equipped with car seats if you need them.
I hope this was helpful, Michele. If neither of these options speaks to you, then there are also rideshare services such as Uber and Lyft and independent shuttle services that operate from Sanford International Airport Airport to Walt Disney World Resort. While the shuttle services will likely make multiple stops at Disney World, rideshare gets you quickly to your resort without stopping for other Guests.
Before I let you go, stop at Port Orleans - Riverside’s sister resort
Port Orleans- French Quarter if you get the chance during your visit.
Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory’s Jambalaya is one of my favorite things to eat at Walt Disney World Resort. It tastes like being in New Orleans, and in my experience, the portions are generous. The walk from Riverside to French Quarter is also less than 15 minutes.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
