    4 of us will be in Disneyworld the week of Nov 13 and plan to purchase 4 day passes. What is the difference between the one lightening pass and the genie? What is the cost of either option?

    Welcome to planDisney! Hooray for your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World Resort! 

    This year has been full of so many new experiences and offerings with Walt Disney World Resort and it can be overwhelming. A big thing that can take some explaining is Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass can be purchased before you arrive at either 3 days or 7 days. The cost for Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass varies each day but ranges from $15 to $39. (Prices are subject to change.) Once you purchase the Lightning Lane Multi Pass you can begin booking three Lightning Lane return times for three different attractions for the day you select. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel you get the 7-day early booking advantage, otherwise the 3-day option will be what you will be working with. Lighting Lane Single Pass is a separate cost and just for one attraction. It's usually for the newest and most in-demand attractions in the Parks. On my last trip, I purchased a combination of Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass for a few days. I found it to be very effective at Magic Kingdom Park and great if you have a ticket with the Park Hopper option as you can use it at multiple parks. Once you use one of your Lightning Lane bookings that you made days before you can book another from what is available. You can continue booking more attractions as you keep utilizing the Lightning Lanes and it can be a fun way to get a lot accomplished. 

    Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass replaced Disney Genie+ but still Disney Genie remains. Disney Genie is a free service on your My Disney Experience App. It's a service that organizes your plans for the day and provides recommendations based on your interests. You can set this up before you arrive so that if you are looking for a heavy character meet-and-greet sort of trip or more of a thrill-ride experience, the service can help provide suggestions.
