I want to upgrade my pass to the inspire when it becomes eligible but my current pass won’t be in the renewal window. Can I still upgrade?

Greetings, Jenny. From one Magic Key holder to another, welcome to planDisney! The Inspire and Believe Key annual passes are going on sale again for a limited time starting November 4, 2025. Let's talk about your options as a current Magic Key holder!

Jenny, it is possible to upgrade a Magic Key pass to a higher pass type outside of your renewal window, as long as the pass you want is currently available for sale. However, there are a few factors to consider in deciding whether to upgrade, such as when your pass will expire and how often (and on which days) you want to visit in the coming months.

Here are some important things to know when upgrading your Magic Key pass outside the renewal window:

    • When you upgrade, the expiration date of your pass won't change.
    • The cost to upgrade is the same regardless of whether you recently activated your Magic Key or if your renewal window is just around the corner.
    • This kind of upgrade can only be done in person at the Disneyland Resort ticket booths. The price difference between your current pass and the desired pass must be paid in full at the time of the upgrade.
Jenny, I have the Inspire Key and absolutely love it. I appreciate that the Inspire Key has the fewest blockout dates of the Magic Key annual passes, and that I can hold up to six reservations at a time. This provides added flexibility, especially at certain times of the year. Standard parking is also included with the Inspire Key (at select lots, excluding blockout dates). In addition, Guests with an Inspire Key pass can enjoy higher discounts at participating dining and merchandise locations, as well as unlimited Disney PhotoPass digital downloads.

By upgrading your pass in early November, you'll be able to make the most of the holiday season at the Disneyland Resort, which kicks off November 14, 2025. It's my favorite time of year at the Happiest Place on Earth – the decorations, entertainment, and new food options make for an extra magical experience.

Remember, Jenny, you'll also have a chance to upgrade or downgrade your pass when renewing your Magic Key, even if passes are paused for new sales at that time. So, if you decide the timing isn't right now, you'll be able to make changes during your renewal window, which currently opens 30 days before the pass expiration date.

Jenny, I’ll wish upon a star that an Inspire Key is in your future! If you have any other questions, please let us know. We love to help at planDisney.

    Your pal,
