Can I upgrade from a moderate resort to a deluxe for free?

The only time I've seen a free upgrade from a resort to a Deluxe resort was last year when a friend of mine was sent an email asking if she'd like an upgrade to a studio at Saratoga Springs over her room at the All-Stars.  I'm sure Disney had probably oversold their reservations. But this was a rare occasion and one I don't hear much.

Typically at check-in, you can ask for an upgrade like one from a garden view to a water view or even standard to preferred, as it's always good to ask (and my thought is that the answer to any question is 'no' if you don't ask...). And if it's available, there might be a chance you could get it.  But because each resort runs its own front-desk, you won't be offered an upgrade from one resort to the next.

Hope you'll come back to the Mom's Panel!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
