Hi Kristen, and welcome to planDisney!
Oh, how I miss chugging along through the
Magic Kingdom Park on the
Walt Disney World Railroad. The charming steam trains were a favorite of Walt Disney himself, and you can almost imagine him conducting the train and grinning as the whistle blows. It's such a magical way to travel around the theme park!
I wish I could tell you that you could look forward to a ride on the train for your upcoming visit, Kristen. The Walt Disney World Railroad is parked for now as construction continues on the exciting new attraction coming to Tomorrowland,
TRON Lightcycle / Run. Honestly, I'm so excited to board a bike and try out this amazing addition to the Magic Kingdom Park! We don't yet have a date for the opening of TRON Lightcycle / Run, though, so it looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer before the train starts running again.
But there is another train currently in operation at the Walt Disney World Resort! Head over to
Disney's Animal Kingdom Park and climb aboard the
Wildlife Express Train for a ride through the African savanna! The train takes you over to Rafiki's Planet Watch, where you can explore all sorts of animal encounters, from a
petting zoo to the important work being done at
Conservation Station. It's so much fun to watch the animals as you pass by. I'm sure Walt would love it!
I'm sorry I didn't have better news for you, Kristen, but I do hope I've given another idea to ride the rails at Walt Disney World. Have an amazing vacation, and please come see us again if you have any more questions!
Keep Disney Dreaming,
Kathy K.
