    Hi, can you update us on the renovations affecting the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa please? What areas are still being affected by the renovations, are they intrusive? What should we avoid? thanks!

    Hey there Fernanda, and welcome to planDisney!

    As a Disney Vacation Club owner of The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, this is certainly a special spot that I'm happy to call home. I got engaged right in the lobby and my husband and I even got married during our stay here last year, as we brought over our extended family members from Brazil to celebrate and enjoy our Disney Wedding at these beautiful surroundings that definitely saw a lot of construction work and renovations over the past few years. I personally spend a lot of time coming back to visit frequently and am happy to provide you with a current update as of October 2024, ahead of your stay in a few weeks:

    • You'll very likely notice the construction work being completed just beyond Franck's Studio and Disney's Wedding Pavilion where the former waterfront pathway remains blocked off to guests. The new Island Tower can be very clearly seen from several vantage points during your stay, and may affect anyone attempting to head over to  Disney's Polynesian Village Resort using the pathways around the construction.
    • Since you'll be coming during the first week of November, you might be able to witness the iconic life-sized Gingerbread House being completed in the lobby! Last year the work began just in time for Halloween as the lobby furniture was cleared and the area condoned off for the massive confectionery construction taking place; several days later on November 8 it finally opened to guests so don't be surprised if you notice the talented Grand Floridian Bakery Team still hard at work as you check in.
