Welcome to planDisney, Kevin. Let's talk MagicBand+.
To update your
MagicBand+, ensure that it is fully charged, you have Bluetooth enabled on your smartphone, and
you've linked it to your
My Disney Experience mobile app. Speaking of the app, you'll want to ensure that it has been updated itself as well. Then, open the app, click on the 3 horizontal lines (☰) in the bottom right-hand corner, and select "MagicBands and More." You're going to then click on the name of the Guest whose MagicBand you'd like to update (it will likely say "Update your MagicBand+" underneath the name), select the MagicBand+, and you should see a section that says "MagicBand+ Updates." Connect the MagicBand by tapping the back button and keeping it near your phone. After connecting, if there is a green checkmark on this screen of the app, it's all set. If there is an option to update, select it, and let it do its thing. Just ensure that the MagicBand+ stays near your phone for the entire process. You can also visit the
support page on the website should you run into any issues.
As a tip, make sure that you charge your MagicBand+ each night before you use it. If you are planning on visiting a park from opening until closing, and are using the MagicBand+ all day, some people recommend packing a portable charger and the charging cord. This is especially true if you are planning on playing Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters in
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at
Disney's Hollywood Studios and using it for a bunch of other things throughout the day. While I've never personally needed to charge mine in the middle of a park day, I always pack a portable charger to charge my phone so adding the small charging cord is no big deal to me and something I do as well!
Kevin, I hope you enjoy all of the wonders your MagicBand+ will unlock at the
Walt Disney World Resort. Should you have any other questions,
you are welcome to reach out directly to me.
Dreams only exist to be made to come true,
Matt
