    Donna from MI Asked

I have an upcoming trip in May and am sooo excited. I received and purchased gift cards for a trip we had to cancel. Wondering if I can add these cards to my magic band to use for dining and shopping expenses.

    Hi Donna,

Welcome to planDisney, I am so happy to see that you are planning a visit to Walt Disney World Resort this spring.  I love Disney Gift Cards, I purchase them year-round to use when we are visiting Walt Disney World Resort.

While Disney Gift Cards cannot be added to your MagicBand directly, you can still use your gift cards to pay for dining and shopping expenses at Walt Disney World Resort.  Upon your arrival, have a Cast Member set up your MagicBand for charging purposes (this will include linking a Credit Card) and every few days head down to the front desk at your Resort Hotel and use your gift cards to pay the balance.  I find this easier than carrying my gift cards with me, and it's easier to keep track of what we have spent.  When charging to your MagicBand you are also able to check the balance on your account in My Disney Experience, under your Resort Hotel Room Reservation information.  Your Disney Gift Cards will also be accepted throughout Walt Disney World Resort if you would prefer to use the actual card instead of charging to your MagicBand.

Since you are visiting in May, it's a perfect time to visit Taste of Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival.  My daughter and I love wandering around Epcot World Showcase admiring all of the topiaries and tasting some of the delicious food offerings from around the world.

I hope you have a magical time at Walt Disney World Resort, Donna.  Please let us know if you have any other questions, we are always happy to help.
