Hi Tamara!
Welcome to planDisney! We're so glad that you found us hEAR!
This is a great question. My family lived close to Disneyland for a few yEARs and I'll always treasure the Mickey-shaped memories we shared. I absolutely am in support of everyone having 12 months of Magic by purchasing
Magic Key annual passes. The answer to this question depends on which kind of
Theme Park Admission Tickets you already hold. If you were to purchase a Magic Key annual pass without tickets, you'd need to pay a down payment that is at the time of this writing *$179. If the Theme Park Admission Tickets that you initially purchased are less than that amount (ex a 1-day 1-park ticket on a tier 2 day), then you will pay whatever the difference is between the tickets you hold and the down payment amount. If however, the
Theme Park Admission Tickets that you're thinking about upgrading are more than the deposit then you should be set, and the monthly payment amount should be whatever your remaining balance is divided by 11.
I do want to make sure that you've checked the
Magic Key Access Calendar to make sure that the
two levels of Magic Keys that are currently for sale mesh well with your schedule. At this current time the two higher levels that don't have as many blockout dates are not currently available for sale, and we're not sure when they'll return.
Another pro tip that I want to point out is that
there are different pools of Park Pass Reservations for the different types of tickets. Right now your
Park Pass Reservations are attached to your day-guest tickets. If you are thinking you'd like to make the upgrade to become
Magic Keyholders, your best bet is to wait until the last day of your upcoming visit as you'd have to make all new
Park Pass Reservations if you were to upgrade to Keys before your vacation starting or even mid-way through. You should be clear to upgrade in the mid-afternoon (if your current ticket is a park hopper) or minutes after you enter the theme park if your current tickets are the 1-park-per-day kind. This type of upgrade can be done at the Ticket Booths in The Esplanade between
Disneyland Park and
Disney California Adventure Park, or right from your
Disneyland Mobile App!
I hope that this helped to clEAR your question up, Tamara! And I hope that you'll become the newest Mouseketeer in the coolest club in the Kingdom! Be sure to follow the
