I have an upcoming stay booked at Boardwalk Villas in a standard view 1 bedroom. I know the refurbishment is behind schedule and that there had been a shortage of murphy beds. Has the murphy bed shortage ended? What is the new timeline for completion?

Welcome Home, Deborah! Thanks so much for visiting planDisney with your question today. What a treat to meet a fellow Disney Vacation Club Member!

I am sure you are counting down the days until your summer vacation at Disney's BoardWalk Villas. I grew up near the Jersey Shore, and the retro Atlantic City vibes of this resort make me feel right at home. Just pass me the salt water taffy! The location of this resort can't be beat--there's not much better than being able to walk out of your resort and find yourself just a short walk away from EPCOT or Disney's Hollywood Studios. The Luna Park Pool is a family favorite, and the resort also has two leisure pools if you're looking for a quieter experience.

As a longtime DVC Member, I really appreciate that all of the resorts are on a regular cycle of refurbishments to keep them in ship-shape condition. The BoardWalk started on its most recent renovations in the Fall of 2023, and part of the new changes will be the installation of Murphy beds in the 1-Bedroom Villas. Disney's Beach Club Villas recently underwent this upgrade, and it is a great space-saving addition!

Deborah, I spoke to Member Services and to Cast Members at the BoardWalk specifically, and they confirmed that while there is not currently a firm timeline for completion of the renovations, they were unaware of a shortage of Murphy beds. I recommend keeping an eye on the BoardWalk website as I often find the most up-to-date information on refurbishments and other happenings on the resort sites.

My other best advice is to contact Member Services closer to your July arrival so they can add a note to your reservation that you would prefer a renovated room. Although this can't be guaranteed until all of the refurbishments are completed, the Cast Members at the BoardWalk will do their best to make some magic for you!

I hope this information is helpful for your planning purposes, Deborah! If more questions arise as your Disney adventure approaches, please send them to our planDisney squad and we'll be happy to help.
