On our upcoming cruise, I am worried about my step-son (a cognitively delayed adult). I am not confident in him having access to charging with his Key to the World card, or any shopping/spending that could be done on the Navigator app. Suggestions?

Ahoy there, Heather! Thanks for pulling alongside to planDisney to ask your question about charging privileges on the Disney Cruise Line Key to the World cards!

One of the most amazing things about the Key to the World card while on a Disney Cruise Line vacation is how it truly does allow you to turn it into what its name suggests! There have been vacations where I put my ID and Key To The World card in my lanyard and never even think about taking my wallet out of my pocket!

When it comes to limiting charging privileges, I have good news! The ability to charge for each Guest must be explicitly linked to a credit card on file, and you should be able to restrict charging privileges without any rough seas! During your Online Check-In, you'll have opportunities to enable charging privileges for each guest, but if you'd like to make note of this restriction now,  before your activities booking window opens, I would suggest reaching out to a crew member by phone or by email.

I'd also suggest you visit the Guest Services Desk (Deck 3, Midship) as soon as you board the ship to verify 100%  that your step-son's charging privileges are inactive. The Crew will be able to verify charging privileges for all members of your reservation!

As far as the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app is concerned, the news isn't quite as clear, but is still decidedly good! There are actually very few things that could be shopped for or reserved without them showing up in your "My Activities" section of your reservation. With all that is included in a Disney Cruise Line vacation, I know I check the website constantly for more information as my vacations get closer, so if you're worried about any potential charges, you can very easily log on and see if there are any activities you don't recognize!

Once you're aboard, your stateroom folio will be visible in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app as well, and is broken down by Guest. This can help you keep a weather eye on the charges to your stateroom made by other Guests in your party that may have charging privileges on their Key to the World card. Nothing like staying one jump ahead of anyone getting creative with their time around the market like Aladdin and Abu...

Oh, and one more thing, if you're looking for even more ways to ensure that your step-son's cruise is as magical as possible, I definitely suggest reaching out to Special Services crew members to make sure they're aware of any special requirements or requests you'd like to make! While there isn't a guarantee that every request can be accommodated, they'll always try their level best!

Whew, I guess I really CHARGED through all that, eh, Heather? I hope that helps give you a heading for how to manage charging privileges for your crew this August! I can't wait for you to embark on this incredible adventure together! Thank you again for your question, and if you have any others as your sail date gets closer, please drop me another line here at planDisney!

    Fair winds and following seas!
