For our upcoming cruise I used a gift card to put room credit on our reservation. It made me select a guest to deliver it to. Will only that person be able to use the credit or everyone in the cabin?

    Welcome aboard, Roxanne!

Thanks for bringing a great question to planDisney about your upcoming cruise. There’s nothing quite like a Disney Cruise Line vacation, and I’m thrilled for your family to experience this special voyage in just a few weeks!

You are smart to use the Onboard Gifts and Amenities feature to put room credit on your stateroom reservation ahead of your sailing. I do this often and am happy to explain the details of what to expect once you’re onboard.

Onboard Gifts and Amenities allow you or your loved ones to pre-order items that can be arranged for delivery onboard to your stateroom. This includes bare necessities like bottled water or cruise treats like wine and beer packages, floral arrangements, room décor and cakes. Friends and family can gift you with the surprise of onboard credit to your stateroom, like sending a gift card, but the best gifts are sometimes the ones you give yourself! As you’ve discovered, you can use this feature to send yourself some onboard credit to be one jump ahead of that stateroom folio as it comes due. Since the process to add this onboard credit is done through the gifts process, there is a step to add a “to” and “from” to create the notice that will be delivered to your stateroom. I confirmed with Disney Cruise Line that this will ultimately act as a direct credit to your stateroom account and is not affiliated with any one person in the room. “To me, from me” has a nice ring to it Roxanne, and I know you’ll love seeing this little note on your stateroom door when you arrive!

I recently used my Disney Premier Visa Reward Dollars to send some onboard credit to myself for our upcoming spring break cruise. I could have also packed the Rewards Redemption Card to apply to our room balance, but I prefer to slim down my wallet when we travel and now I know the funds have already been applied to my future onboard purchases!

Your Disney Cruise Line vacation includes many things, from fabulous dining to Broadway-style entertainment. Your onboard credit will be used towards additional purchases, such as adult-exclusive dining upgrades, alcoholic beverages, Port Adventures, spa services, and of course exclusive merchandise only available onboard a Disney Cruise Line ship! As anyone in your stateroom makes a purchase, it will go to your stateroom account and then this credit will apply to that collective balance.

You may stop by Guest Services, on Deck 3, Midship, in the Atrium Lobby at any time throughout your cruise to check your stateroom balance or to make an additional form of payment.

I hope you have a lot of fun spending the gift of onboard credit you treated yourself to, Roxanne! I also hope this was helpful to understand the details of what to expect. Please let us know if you have any more questions as you finalize the details for your amazing vacation!

Wishing you blue skies and sunshine,
