Ahoy there Leslie, and welcome aboard planDisney!
The Disney Wonder has a very special place in my heart, and it's wonderful that you're embarking on
a voyage celebrating the 25th Silver Anniversary of Disney Cruise Line! You're likely headed to
Vancouver, Canada ahead of your Alaskan adventure this summer and many folks choose to take advantage of booking Disney shuttle with a
Pre- or Post-Cruise Hotel Stay to alleviate the stress of taking public transportation or braving the traffic that locals and tourists alike experience coming in and out of Vancouver island.
As a Canadian I can say that while tipping at least 18-20% is certainly more customary in our larger cities across the country, we like to try to be as polite and helpful as possible without expecting any mandatory gratuities. A general rule of thumb that I've followed when it comes to tipping drivers is basing it off of their overall courtesy and professionalism during the ride, how many pieces of luggage they had to assist with and the promptness in conveying us to our destination. (Due to the proximity to the border and the currency exchange rate, folks in Vancouver are often very ok with receiving American dollars whenever visitors choose to tip!)
Be sure to ask your driver for their recommendations close to your hotel accommodations, but if you've got an extra day or so to spend in Vancouver I can definitely recommend taking a trek out to
visit the Capilano Suspension Bridge. It includes a gorgeous walk through the treetops and a walk high over the gorge to give you a little taste of
the wilderness you may encounter in Alaska! Come back to planDisney to
ask me more questions about Alaskan cruising, and be sure to connect with our Disney Cruise Line Specialists
Tracie and
Adrianna for more nautical knowledge ahead of your voyage!
Your Alaskan Adventure is out there!
