We’re going on an unplanned visit next month. Unfortunately last minute trips are hard to fit in and there are no reservations and very little fast passes available for our party. Are there any table service restaurants that accept walk ins?

    Welcome BACK, Claudia!

It's so good to see you asking another Walt Disney World Resort planning question! I often make last minute trips to Mickey's house. Once was after my husband returned home from a deployment; we booked our Disney Resort Hotel room 24 hours before we checked-in. Most recently was this past November - I booked a cross-country flight 36 hours before arrival! While it takes a bit of patience and flexibility, I know you're still going to have an amazing time at the Most Magical Place on Earth.

Here's how I tackle last minute dining reservations: First, sEARch all of the Dining Locations at the generic meal times of "Breakfast", "Lunch" and "Dinner" as well as check specific times. You might find that your only options are later in the meal service, but in my experience restaurants aren't that full during these times, which leads to more attention from both your servers as well as Mickey's pals at any Character Dining reservations you might be able to secure. And don't give up! Check for dining reservations on your My Disney Experience Mobile App multiple times during the day, especially in those little pockets of free time you happen to find. Who knows, you might just book a breakfast while waiting at the bank, or land a lucky lunch spot after moving laundry!

Yes, most Table Service dining locations do have some room in their schedules for walk-ups, usually thanks to last-minute cancelations. Your best bet is to head directly to the restaurant where you'd like to dine as soon as that park or location opens to see what's available. They'll either tell you a specific time to come back, or give you a heads up of when they generally aren't busy. (And to give you a bit of hope, I've secured same-day walk-up seats to Whispering Canyon Cafe, The Hollywood Brown Derby and Cinderella's Royal Table, just to name a few. So yes, it can happen!)

If you can't get in to the main restaurant, some locations serve up a smaller menu of their most popular dishes in adjacent first-come, first-serve lounges like The Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge, Tune-In Lounge, Sanaa Lounge, Tambu Lounge, etc (Pro Tip: Ask at each location if they have any secret items from the main restaurant not listed on the lounge menu.) And lastly, some Quick-Service locations offer similar items as their table-service siblings. The Disney-famous Tonga Toast from Kona Cafe has a similar portion at the quick-service Captain Cook's, and the Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes most definitely shares a kitchen with the sit-down Yak and Yeti Restaurant.

Pro Tip for finding last minute FastPass+ reservations: since each reservation has an hour-long window to be redeemed, search in smaller parties over multiple time slots, and then together enter the attraction during the overlapping redemption time. So instead of looking for four spots at noon, book two reservations at 12:30 P.M. and two more at 12:45 P.M.

I hope this gave you hope that you WILL have successful Disney Days, Claudia, and We'll See You Real Soon!
