Unfortunately I will be coming a few weeks after knee replacement surgery and will need to rent a scooter. Are there places in the park to re-charge the scooters?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Shelia!

I am so sorry to hear that you are having knee surgery and I wish you nothing but pixie dust and a quick recovery! Happily, you have a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation to look forward to afterward! You can rent an Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) at Disney Theme Parks or Disney Springs for each day of your stay, or you can rent them from one of the Disney Featured Providers if you require them for the length of your stay. If renting directly from a Disney Theme Park and in the unlikely chance the battery runs out, you can ask a Cast Member for assistance. If you are renting from an outside provider, there are no “charging stations” throughout the Disney Theme Parks, but I am told that there are a few ways to conserve the battery:

-Ensure that you charge the ECV overnight for a full 6-8 hours.

-Run the ECV at a moderate speed, there is no need to race around Magic Kingdom Park unless it happens to be a runDisney event, of course!

-Turn off the ECV when you are not moving, for example, while watching parades or fireworks.

If you follow these tips, your ECV should last you the full day. If renting from a Disney Featured Provider, I would also ask them for tips or suggestions if the battery does happen to disappoint during your stay.

Wishing you a smooth surgery, speedy recovery, and a magical vacation! Please come and visit us again soon,
