I understand that after purchasing a magic key pass, you have a year to activate it from the purchasing date. Let’s say we purchased in March, but activate in in May. Does that mean the pass will be used from May 2024-May 2025 or would it end in March’25?

    Hi there, Jennifer!

Thank you for stopping by planDisney with your question! I always love hearing from other Jennifers!

The current Magic Key Terms and Conditions state that a Pass will expire if it is not activated within one (1) year from the date of purchase. This means you have up to one year to activate a new pass and begin the Magic Key countdown. After you use it for the first time to enter a Disneyland Resort theme park, you will have one full year to use your new Magic Key from the date of activation. In your example, your Magic Key pass expiration date would be sometime in May 2025 if you use it for the first time in May 2024. Keep in mind that Magic Key renewal passes are automatically activated the day after a current pass expires.

One of the reasons I love being a Magic Key holder are the food and merchandise discounts! Each pass has different discounts that can be viewed on the Magic Key page. If the Magic Key is linked to your Disneyland mobile app, relevant discounts should be automatically applied to Disney Genie+ and mobile order purchases. I mobile order food at least a couple of times each day. It is so easy! Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe, Bengal Barbecue, and Cafe Daisy are some of my favorite restaurants that usually accept mobile orders.

Jennifer, I hope to welcome you to the Magic Key family soon! Please contact planDisney again if you have other questions!
