I understand the different dining plans, but what is the avg out of pocket cost for breakfast, lunch, dinner if you don't use a dining plan? We will probably do a character breakfast and the hoop dee doo review as well.

Hey, Ed!  Obviously, where, how and what one likes to eat is going to vary greatly among individuals -- which, in turn, greatly effects one's dining budget on vacation.  Yet, my general rule of thumb when helping friends and family decide about the various costs of their WDW vacation is plan for around $50 (+ tax and gratuity) per day per adult on dining.  That's figuring in a grab-n-go meal, a quick-service meal and one sit down meal per day.  If you price out your dining package per person per day and then compare it to where you like to eat (the quality as well as the experience) and how often you like to eat, then you'll get a good comparison.  For my family of six, it sometimes makes perfect sense to purchase the dining plan.  However, if we're staying at a villa with a kitchen or perhaps attending a conference, it makes better sense to only pay per meal since we may only eat in the parks once a day.  Enjoy planning your vacation, and stop by the Moms Panel again if we can help you more.  Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation!
