    I understand that you can't purchase the dining plan while staying at Shades of Green but can you make reservations for character meals at the parks without a dining plan?

    Hello Alicia, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with a great planning question.

    I absolutely love Character Dining at the Walt Disney World Resort. It is one of my favorite ways to meet my favorite characters without waiting in line. Some of the best meals I have enjoyed have been character meals. The offerings are delicious. Don’t forget to have your camera ready and your autograph books with you. All of the characters featured at your meal will come right to your table for photos. Keep in mind that character greetings are subject to change. Check with a Cast Member if you have any questions.

    Any guest visiting the Walt Disney World Resort can make reservations for Character Dining. They are not limited to guests with dining plans. I have been an annual passholder for several years and have not had a dining plan either. Disney Dining plans do allow guests to save money on the overall costs of their Disney vacation. Keep in mind that you can make your advanced dining reservations 180 days in advance of your arrival. Your window will open to book online at 6:00 a.m. or you can call Disney Dining at (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463 at 7:00 a.m. to book your reservations. I hope that helps with your planning.
