Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Ashleigh!
Wow, what a generous offer your uncle has made. I am a huge fan of giving experiences instead of things as gifts, and I love that he wants to give your family the gift of magical memories this holiday season!
On behalf of my fellow Panelists, please thank your uncle for his service to our country. Mine’s a military family too, and we are so grateful for the military special offers available at the Walt Disney World Resort. Here’s the deal with the
Military Promotional Theme Park Tickets: the military member (or their spouse, provided they hold a valid and active military ID) who purchases the tickets must use at least one of the tickets purchased. In other words, if your uncle were to purchase tickets for your Mouseketeers, he would have to visit with you. The tickets purchased on base must be activated upon arrival at Walt Disney World, and in order to activate the tickets, the service member must show their military ID at Guest Relations.
Ashleigh, I see you’re planning to visit in 2021, and the military special offer has not been announced for 2021 at this time. Usually, the special offer for the following year is announced in fall – we just got the details about 2020 military special offers a few weeks ago. If your uncle decides to purchase military tickets and travel with you, keep an eye on the
Special Offers web page in fall of next year; ticket pricing changes from year to year, and special offer availability is not guaranteed.
If your uncle isn’t going to visit with you, maybe he could purchase
Disney Gift Cards for your kiddos. Those could be used to purchase tickets, apply to a vacation package payment, buy food around the theme parks, or for souvenirs. My family members often purchase Disney Gift Cards for my kids, and they love being able to pick out their own special memento from our visit.
I hope you have so much fun dreaming about your Walt Disney World Resort vacation, Ashleigh. If you have any further questions as you do your planning, please come back and see us. And give a Mickey-sized high five to your uncle for being one magical guy!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
