Ahoy, Becky!
Disney Cruise Line's private island,
Castaway Cay, is truly one of my favorite places in all the world. The island paradise is home to beautiful beaches, crystal clear water, and loads of fun activities to entertain guests of all ages. While renting a cabana on the island is amazing, it's more of a luxury "extra" than a necessity when it comes to enjoying yourself on Castaway Cay. With or without a cabana, there are plenty of lovely areas all over the island to enjoy!
You'll be amazed at how much is included in your port visit to Castaway Cay. Beach chairs, loungers, and umbrellas are provided, and are plentiful. There's lots of shady spots on the island, including hammocks, which is where I like to take my island naps (zzzzz). If you have adventurous kids in your sailing party, I recommend choosing a spot on the beach near Pelican Plunge - an awesome floating water playground with slides! A delicious lunch is included at Cookie's BBQ, Cookie's Too, and also at Serenity Bay BBQ (located on the adult-only beach, for guests 18+). Lunch is served from 11:30-2:00, so you can eat at your leisure. There's also an all-you-care-to-enjoy soft serve ice cream station available - go ahead and have dessert first - you're on vacation!
You can choose to be as active as you like, or just spend the day relaxing - it's really up to you! Make sure to check your Personal Navigator (a daily newsletter, delivered to your stateroom), or the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App for a listing of all the activities, Character Greetings, and more happening throughout the day. There are lots of great Port Adventures to choose from in Castaway Cay as well. My family likes to rent bicycles to cruise around the island - it's a great way to sightsee, and also a great way to work off some of those cruise calories!
I hope you enjoy your visit to Castaway Cay! - Diane W.
