Unable to get dinner reservations at resort we are staying at for relaxing “stay-cation”, should we talk with someone when we get there? Do the hold some spots open? Staying at Polynesian in July 2019.

It's great to see you here today at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Christine!

A stay at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort sounds absolutely divine. You're going to feel instantly relaxed as soon as you arrive at the Great Ceremonial House to check in. Honestly, the smell of the lobby is one of my favorite smells ever and it brings back so many magical memories.

One of the reasons that guests love this Resort Hotel so much is because the food is so great. The Quick-Service location, Capt. Cook's, is worth the trip on its own, and Pineapple Lanai is one of the only places you can find Dole Whip! They even serve it here swirled with vanilla soft-serve ice cream, which is a really fun way to enjoy that classic treat. The Table-Service dining locations, 'Ohana and Kona Cafe, are both super popular as well, which explains why you're not seeing a reservation pop up for your July vacation. Guests are able to make their dining reservations up to 180 days in advance, and that's a lot of time for people to change their minds and decide they want to go somewhere else, so it's still possible that you might get a reservation for either of these restaurants before you arrive for your stay-cation. I recommend checking the My Disney Experience app frequently and being flexible about when you dine! You can certainly walk up and try to get a table on the night you'd like to eat there, but be prepared with a plan B if there aren't any available. You can also get a lot of the dishes from these restaurants, including all of the selections from 'Ohana's menu, delivered to you as part of in-room dining, so use your room phone to order if you really want to treat yourself!

If you want to get a back-up reservation while you're trying to secure a table at a restaurant at your Resort Hotel, why not book something that's just a monorail ride away, like Cítricos or Narcoossee's at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa? These restaurants are both right next door to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, and Narcoossee's even has a spectacular view of Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom Park!

I hope this answers your questions, Christine, and please let us know if there's anything we can do to help you plan your magical vacation.
